Amen to this. But I despair that it can possibly happen in time, at least not in a controlled manner. It feels like we have avoided so many controlled burns in the past that we are now seeing the start of the wildfire that will rethink it all for us.

This is what has been running over and over in my mind lately: It takes decades to grow a tree. It takes minutes to burn it down.
